Congresswoman Jenkins Applauds House Passage of 21st Century Cures Act
July 10, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) released the following statement applauding House passage of the 21st Century Cures Act:

“I have spoken with countless Kansans who have or have had the hardship of seeing someone they love battle for their life against an incurable disease. These are children who want to have a normal life, go to school, and play tee-ball. These are parents who are diagnosed with an illness that threatens to take them from their family far too soon.

“I recently lost my dad to Alzheimer’s and firmly believe we must provide America’s medical innovators with the certainty they need to advance their research. America is the leader in medical innovation, and I’m pleased to support the 21st Century Cures Act to empower our innovators at the University of Kansas and other institutions around the country with the certainty and long-term funding they need to research and discover medical breakthroughs so our children and grandchildren will live a better and healthier life. It is my hope the Senate acts swiftly and passes this bill.”
