Homeland Security Committee Hearing on the Implications of Transferring GTMO Detainees to the US

Today, the House Homeland Security Committee held a hearing entitled, “Transferring Guantanamo Bay Detainees To The Homeland: Implications For States And Local Communities.” Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (KS-02) invited Todd Thompson, the Leavenworth County Attorney, to be a key witness for this important hearing. After the hearing, Congresswoman Jenkins released the following statement:

“I would like to thank Todd for testifying before the House Homeland Security Committee. His insightful testimony brought a local viewpoint as to why transferring Guantanamo Bay detainees to the Leavenworth community is a dangerous idea. I will continue to work with Todd, and all of our Kansas officials, to stop the President from fulfilling this dangerous and flawed campaign promise.”
