Rep. Jenkins Introduces the Restoring Access to Medication Act

Today, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) introduced legislation that provides two-year relief from the tax on over-the-counter medications. Specifically, H.R. 4618 will give American’s relief from the Affordable Care Act’s restrictions on the use the funds in their Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to purchase over-the-counter (OTC) medication.

“Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts are the bedrock of consumer choice,” said Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins.  “They allow individuals to spend their healthcare dollars towards the specific needs of their families. This legislation would remove Obamacare’s harmful prohibition on the use of HSAs and FSAs for basic, over-the-counter needs of thousands of Kansans. I look forward to continuing to work on the Ways and Means committee to provide meaningful, incremental improvements to our health care system.”
